My Top 8 Hip Hop Artist To Watch In 2009

I have been listening to a lot of Hip Hop artist lately. I had to research some new talent that I heard on the radio. That is how I have made my decision of my Top anticipated artist in 09:

1. Kanye West

Kanye has been BIG since he began his career as an artist. I feel that he will continue his ascension whether it be as an individual artist or producing them.

2. Jadakiss

Jadakiss has always been a favorite artist of mine and finally it seems like he is in a great situation to provide him with that mainstream success he has been deserving of.

3. Drake

I heard Drake's "Best I Ever Had" track on Hot 97 the other day and I had to research this guy. First off I found that he started as an actor and has had a long career on a Canadian show entitled Degrassi. As far as music he's been doing it since 2006 and has 4 mixtapes out (including the best of mixtape in 2008). I checked them out and need I say more he's number 3 on my list.

4. Kid Cudi

Cudi's music is hot and different. I believe he is definitely what the games been missing. Not to mention he's part of the G.O.O.D. Music family talent gets you a lot of things success is one of them.

5. Rick Ross

Rick's flow is SICK! I am a fan of his wordplay as well. Rick's whole "boss" character is displayed in his demeanor as well as his music.

6. Wale

I first heard Wale on Kid Cudi's "A Kid Named Cudi" mixtape. I then had to checkout this guy who along with Chip Tha Ripper are the only features on that classic mixtape. Wale's own material stands out proving that he can provide Hip Hop with a new form of Energy it needs to survive.

7. Joe Budden

Joey! I am from Jersey City, NJ and so is Joe Budden. Now in Jersey City a lot of people are not particularly fans of Joe Budden. People tend to dislike those who they know personally making their dreams come true before they actually make it. I feel the same way about Joe Budden as I do about Jadakiss he deserves to be on a higher plateau in Hip Hop than he is. With his Joe Budden TV generating a lot of buzz maybe 09 will provide him with that opportunity.

8. Jay-Z

You can't leave out Jay-Z on any top list...lol. He's too great. I am anxiously awaiting the Blueprint 3 album. From the songs that I have heard be it online or on the radio it sounds like a classic. For the people who say Jay should retire I say this if other genres can have artist who are almost 70 still putting out music then why is Hip Hop any different. When Jay-Z is ready to leave then that is when he should leave.
