Knicks Poetry Slam
I was watching MSG (the Madison Square Garden channel) and they were showing the Knicks Poetry Slam. I had to find out what this program was about since I like poetry and its raw form spoken word. The Poetry slam was established in 2003 in order to help young kids to express themselves in positive ways through poetry in both written and spoken forms. The growth of this program allowed the New York Knicks and their partner Urban Word NYC to reach over 10,000 students providing them with information and other opportunities to better their chances to be successful. Some program consists of but is not limited to poetry slams, workshops, open audition for poetry and annual school visits.
For further information about the Knicks Poetry Slam or how to enter visit the official website KnicksPoetrySlam.com.
The programs sponsors are: New York Knicks, University of Wisconsin, Mercy College, Nike – Let Me Play, Hymowitz Children's Educational Foundation, Inc., The Joan Goldstein Education Foundation and New York Based Radio Stations 98.7 Kiss FM and Hot 97 FM.
