Redman - Funkorama (90's Flashback)

Old School rappers like Redman always knew how to kill it with creativity and raw lyrics.

Redman and Method Man are back at it again the Blackout 2 album is in stores now. I haven't checked it out yet but if it's close to the Blackout I need to hurry up.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! Fatherhood.gov Commercial

I saw this Fatherhood commercial awhile ago while I was watching the NBA Playoffs. It is funny, inspiring and sad all at the same time. Sad in the sense that society has to advertise the importance of being a "Father". When Joshua was on his way I knew there was nothing more I wanted to do than be a great Father to him. I know what it is like to have no one there for you except your Mother, to love you good or bad through thick and thin. I am posting this commercial in the wake of "Father's Day" because more "Father's" should be the topic of discussion rather than "Dead Beat Dad's".

Family trip to the Park on 5-30-2009

Last week Ellie and I took Crystal and Joshua to Johnson Park in New Brunswick. They have a section there with some animals that you can feed. Two of the fowl were intriguing do to their stylish hairdos.

Knicks Poetry Slam

I was watching MSG (the Madison Square Garden channel) and they were showing the Knicks Poetry Slam. I had to find out what this program was about since I like poetry and its raw form spoken word. The Poetry slam was established in 2003 in order to help young kids to express themselves in positive ways through poetry in both written and spoken forms. The growth of this program allowed the New York Knicks and their partner Urban Word NYC to reach over 10,000 students providing them with information and other opportunities to better their chances to be successful. Some program consists of but is not limited to poetry slams, workshops, open audition for poetry and annual school visits.

For further information about the Knicks Poetry Slam or how to enter visit the official website KnicksPoetrySlam.com.

The programs sponsors are: New York Knicks, University of Wisconsin, Mercy College, Nike – Let Me Play, Hymowitz Children's Educational Foundation, Inc., The Joan Goldstein Education Foundation and New York Based Radio Stations 98.7 Kiss FM and Hot 97 FM.

The winners of the 2009 Poetry Slam had some really great work. They were as follows:

1st Place Janine Simon of Brooklyn won $10,000 towards her education, $25,000 in Nike branded gym equipment to donate to the school of her choice, a laptop, a printer and a session to customize her own NIKEiD shoes.

2nd Place Cynthia "Ceez" Keteku won $7,500 towards her education, a laptop, a printer and a session to customize her own NIKEiD shoes.

3rd Place Brook "B Yung" Yung won $5,000 towards his education, a laptop, a printer and a session to customize his own NIKEiD shoes.

Inside the NBA - Rick Adelmen vs. Phil Jackson

I was conversing with Ellie at the end of the Lakers 89-79 Game 7 victory last night over the Rockets. I had was explaining to her how Rick Adelmen always seemed to lose to Phil Jackson. I remembered about the battles both coaches would have when Adelmen was the head coach of the Sacramento Kings and Jackson was head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. At that time both teams were powerhouses but the Lakers always steamrolled past the Kings. I was completely oblivious to the fact that Adelmen was the head coach of the Portland Trailblazer team that lost to Jackson's Chicago Bulls in the 1992 NBA Finals, back in the Michael Jordan era. However, Kenny Smith touches on all of this in this segment of Inside the NBA.
